We've been planning this for awhile. Lots of purging and packing. It's one month until move date. Feels like it's going to go by fast. I have to finish packing up the house, register the kid for new school, Etc. New place is already secured so it's a lot of close out here. I've lived in this town for 40 years. This is going to be a big change. Kids and husband excited but we are all nervous too.
Suggestions for the last month?
Don't get in such a hurry that you misplace things - meaning you pack important stuff in with unimportant stuff.
Clean as you go. Always pack cleaned items and clean the empty spaces when finished with a room.
Don't forget to set up new utilities and close old ones.
Start making a list of every company that will need your new address. This is very important at tax time, as forms will be mailed to you at the end of January.
Not sure how far you are going but ask for copies of medical and vet records if you will need new doctors.
Very knowledgeable & good advice. I normally would have a 'need' box which contained coffee, filters, can opener, coffee pot & cups as well as a wine opener.
When I moved from my sister's into my own apartment, I thought I had put it all together but somehow the can opener was not there. I bought another after trying to open a can with an old fashioned opener & didn't find my good one until much later in, of all places, a box of candles.
where are you moving from where to where ? long distance and wow 40 yrs in the same town ? what made you want to move ? and what kind of environment are you moving to ? just curious why someone would want to move after living in the same town for 40 yrs ....you will miss it for a while and then the new town will feel like home maybe .
I was looking at a diary last week that was written in the final week or so and...........just reading about the stress I was under as the clock was ticking down and nothing was done was incredible (.....if that's the word)!
Moving is the pits but I am inspired by your approach to it.
GOOD FOR YOU!
