I am hoping to spend March 4-9th sorting my stuff and having a garage sale on the week-end. By the 10th, I want to be able to show the house to an appraiser. My stuff is pretty much in boxes, but I am only going to keep a small portion of it. Most I will sell.

How can I find help to do this. I will fly in from Tokyo on March 3rd and start work. I am in good shape but 59 so I do think I need some help.

Will pay more for experienced help.

Appreciate any ideas.

You can check out emove.com to find companies that will pack for you. Customers leave reviews so make sure and check them out.

Do you have any friends that have teens that could help for a price (maybe offer to feed them too)? I'd be very wary of using a company, as to get one that is insured, etc, will end up costing a lot.

Moderator cut: Craigslist has a moving/labor category. Several smaller companies advertise that way as well as individuals. Just be sure to research and check references. Some of them are really good and it's an inexpensive way to advertise, other's not.so.much. Always check.

I used to work in the moving industry and what I've done is asked guys who worked for the company if they'd do some packing/moving for me off the clock. Worked out great because I got qualified, knowledgeable guys packing things the way they should be packed.

Remember, though, if you use a moving company but pack yourself, there is a limit to the moving company's liability. There must be outside signs of visible damage to the box before they'll accept responsibility otherwise they can't prove the item wasn't already broken or packed improperly.
