Use the money to fly out.

Then use public transportation in Seattle once you get there.
Or rent a car if it's only for a few days, and buy a car there once you've made the move.

I'd get oil change, make sure coolant is good, and tires AND hit the road. Do not be afraid to travel alone...crank up the tunes & sing along.

If you don't have towing on your car insurance get AAA membership. Get reservations ahead at a chain like Holiday Inn Express & hotel up by 7PM. Stop at big gas stations along the way to restroom & grab sandwich--take a little cooler of drinks & snacks.

If you stay on the interstates cell service --Verizon-- will work best throughout the West.

My sons are driving in a separate vehicle, I guess if If my car breaks down I will sign the title , and leave it on the side of the road :P I was hoping to get a little more life out of it once we get to Tennessee , I refuse to buy another vehicle in Colorado. I will check into AAA .

That's nothing in this day and age. I drive from Alaska to Arizona and back every year. It's no big deal.

I drove cross country years ago and had AAA plan my trip. It was summer and I specified that I wanted the scenic southern route to take ten days. Got all sorts of booklets and maps listing touristy things to see. So glad I did it. Would like to do it again but head north and cross over into parts of Canada.

Long highway driving at steady speeds is good for a car's engine. Cleans everything out.

Never bring a used east coast (rust belt) car west (non rusty)

NO resell value, no one wants to work on it,

There are tons of very cheap cars in PNW, as well as 'car sharing' and $9.99 Enterprise weekend rentals.

If you don't need a car, don't bother bringing one.

VERY cheap flights at the moment (cheaper than when I moved to PNW in 1980...)

Save your car money for winter trips to SUN.

SF / LA / LV ... <$100

If your car will make it that would be a fun drive. You will remember it the rest of your life.

Save yourself the stress. Sell the car and either fly or take Amtrak to your destination. Then, rent a car for a week or two until you know what the best type vehicle will be for the climate and winter conditions in your new location.
