I bought a brand new one for $2,200 including taxes (it was nothing fancy, just a basic barn door trailer) in Indiana and sold it for $1,800 in Texas. The one way rental from Indiana to Texas was $800 from Uhaul, so I saved $400 on just one trip. I was still living in Indiana and going back and forth, and I used it for three trips. I was able to take more time since I owned the trailer.

Well, if you drive it over 55 MPH and have an accident, there's a liability issue. It's about how much risk you're willing to assume.
