[quote=dchz;55224118]I'm moving across country, from Texas to New York.
The only thing I have that is worth moving for me is my king size tempurpedic mattress that weighs approx. 200 pounds. and may be a few boxes of clothes.
What is the most efficient way to move this across country??
You have two choices, move it with you, or have some common carrier ship it for you. If you move it yourself, you are going to probably need to rent a trailer or truck (expensive), and if you have it shipped you are going to have to box it and pay a shipper to take it for you ( more expensive probably).
Problem for you is, you really can not sell a used mattress, regardless of Tempurpedic or otherwise, so you would have to scrap it and buy new when you get where you are going. In the long run, the cost might end up the same, because shipping or renting trailers isn't super cheap.
Tempurpedic mattresses as supposed to be shipped flat, not on their sides. I know someone whose mattress was damaged to the point of no longer being usable after being shipped, and the moving company refused to provide any compensation. Personally, I would not move a memory foam mattress long distance.
But people do buy used mattresses - not necessarily for a huge amount of money but some. I've sold several via Craigslist, etc.
Well this is scary..planning a long distance move and my JUST PURCHASED memory foam and adjustable frame IS COMING WITH ME..best bed EVER love it, I delayed buying it but could go not another year without. And tho we have boxes to move-tvs etc ...I mean...1300 seems insane.
Everyone who thinks having a used mattress is gross must have never stayed in a hotel.
If you have the time, try selling it.
I love ours, also king size, and I get why you want to keep it.
Ahahahah this is why I carry foam and extra blankies into motels and never turn down anything but the bed cover, then put all MY STUFF as a barrier on it, including pillows. Just look at a few porn sites, you will CRINGE.
In some states there are laws against selling used mattresses, you can say sell the FRAME or the BOXSPRING for an outrageous price and GIVE the mattress with it for "FREE". Otherwise you could be in a world of trouble.

Please provide the specifics of where it is illegal to sell a used mattress.
