We just had our house packed and shipped. Four movers were at our home in CT for approximately 5 hours. They are driving our stuff to south FL, where they will likely spend the same amount of time unpacking.
This is a first for us, and are unsure how much to tip. The moving bill was $6,000.
When we have moved we tipped $50. per mover. However there were separate movers at the destination point and they also got tipped $50. each.
Don't assume that that the same ones that pack you will be there to unpack you.

That happened to me too....however, the ones who pack the van spend a vast amount of time doing so compared to the ones who just unload at the site. But yes, I tipped them all.
I had local movers that moved the contents of my 3 bedroom single family home, to another home just three miles away. The move cost $810. A local move is generally much less expensive than an interstate move as you probably know.
There were 4 movers, who did an excellent job (didn't break a single thing! And they were polite, hard working, and knew what they were doing). I tipped them $20 each for a total of $80 in tips.
The move was much shorter than yours, and everything was done in 5 hours (at both houses, including driving the three miles; I did the packing) so I don't know if this will be helpful or not.
50 bucks per mover sounds about right. Regardless of what your paying the moving company, the ones doing the actual labor probably don't get paid much and would appreciate any token of gratitude.
Thanks, all. I'm thinking maybe $50 or 75 each, or is that too cheap?
That sounds about right to me. I'd probably lean towards $75 if they did a really good job.
