Yes, you can make it in 36 hours with 3 drivers.

No, you should not tow the Cadillac. 1 of you drive the Cadillac, and 2 in the truck.

Why bother? Just to save a little time? Do it over 3 days

Thank you all for your replies, helped me change my mind. Booked the movers for full packing and transportation. 5.1k with full insurance! This was all thanks to your replies. I was just trying to save couple of thousand dollars, but I guess not worth it.

Btw, I am still driving my SRX, still 3 people and I know I can make it within 34 hours as I did it solo in 36 hours with 7 hour long break in the night and 4 small stops for gas and snack.

Thanks Blue Skies, but I abandoned the plan

My wife and kids are flying next day and will be there late night, I wanted to make sure I start a day before early 5AM and reach there to pick them up from airport!

Thanks Bro, I wanted to be there to receive my kids and wife on airport when they reach next night. But I guess their love and the advice from you all helped me abandon the plan to tow the truck, or to two the car and or to drive both trunk and car. I will jsut be driving my car with my brother and a friend. So we 3 should make it on time.

Still aggressive and more than I personally would do, but definitely doable this way. Good for you in deciding to do something safe, rather than winding up in a ditch.

I've done long distance driving in a car and in a moving truck, done both quite a few times. One thing to account for is that driving a moving truck (whether you tow a car or not) is quite a bit more tiring. In you car you can sit back, relax a little bit, and cruise. In a truck it's slower, noisier, and you're always at high attention for cars darting in and out, merging in and out, etc. While I've done 24-30 hours solo in a car, the most I seem to manage in the moving truck is 10-11 hours.

I used calculations from a move I did (1100/2.5), and came to 3.8 or 4 days for such a drive (1700). And that was with great weather the entire way, and not through the desert. But that was also with one driver.

The longer on the road, the more one gets road weary and tunnel vision, which increases the changes of mistakes and accidents. It also puts more heat/stress/wear on the vehicles.
