Agree with this. Why the rush? I'm all for young people wanting their independence, but I think you need a little more "time to assess" just about everything and get a couple more years' life experience under your belt (even if that's from your parents' home). And in the meantime, continue working, going to school, get your bachelor's, save some money. Unless you go the military route, as was suggested above, that is.

Actually, I think he's 18 (based on title of this thread). I don't think that's even old enough to rent a car if he needed/wanted to. You're right though...insurance for young males is really expensive!
