What’s the total distance? How much did it run? What did you use?

Did you use a national moving company? If so, happy with their performance?
Did you drive? If so, any issues with hotels/motels or rest stops?

About 2400 miles. Moving cost was a little over $5,000 to move about 1/2 a house of furniture - we donated half of our furniture from our old house before the move. Mayflower was the company we used.

Overall yes we were happy with the movers. Hubby and I drove with three dogs and stayed overnight in four states. No problems with hotels, fast food restaurants or gas stations. We didn't use any rest stops because we used our stops to eat and walk/water the dogs.

All great info, thank you! Also, 5,000 dollars is inexpensive for a 2400 mile move with a reputable company.

I had three major companies come to the house and give me quotes. Well, actually only two physically came into the house, the third one did a FaceTime walk through because Covid restrictions were being put in place.
I chose the company that would honor the quote if we had to delay the move due to Covid restrictions. We had already delayed the move once due to restrictions and this time of year is usually the busy, more expensive time for moves so another delay could have cost us much more.

I'm wondering about hotels. How is hotel availability these days and how do you access their health/safety in this covid era?

We only stayed at Residence Inns because they're very dog friendly. I was able to make reservations in four different cities about a month prior to our drive and at check-in I was told at two of the hotels that they were full. They didn't offer their regular cafeteria style breakfast but they all had a "grab and go" bag with a variety of pre-packaged snacks. No coffee in the lobby and I never use hotel room coffee pots regardless of Covid so that's something to be aware of if you're a coffee drinker like we are so we just had to wait until we were on the road to get it at a fast food place. I wiped all the touchable services down with disposable wipes and I sprayed lysol everywhere but again, that's the kind of stuff I do anyway when we travel.
