Yes, Yes, Yes!

I have been on a purge but it is painfully slow.

But seriously, I know I'm spoiled with the space but honestly, everything is just a bit smaller here. Every cabinet, every storage space, every closet, everything. Even the kitchen - though it seems spacious, every single cabinet is just a little bit smaller. Oh well.
On the bright side, there is less space to store stuff. When you have lots of closets, cabinets, empty rooms and other places to stash stuff it becomes out of sight, out of mind. And the next thing you know, you've got more stuff than you know what to do with.

I have been talking to my husband about downsizing in the coming future. We'll have one graduating college and one in college. Yet, we still have toys in our house! Why? Because they are stored away in a room that we don't use that much - out of sight, out of mind.

We are going to need to simplify life the way that you have. Smaller home, smaller yard, smaller utility bills, less to take care of.

I have an extensive home gym so I am so fortunate, I was able to achieve new strength goals I never thought possible in 2020. I benched over 300 pounds for the first time ever, a dream at age 38 I didn’t think would ever happen because generally people don’t get stronger as they get older ha ha. But even I gained a Covid 15! I focused more on hardcore lifting while my wife always wanted to bring home amazing food since we couldn’t do much else. So I wasn’t in the end fully happy with my fitness by year’s end because of that. I’ve lost about 8 of it in 2021, but I got Coronavirus this year (February) and that impacted about a week of workouts, I hurt my neck and that was 2 weeks, and had friends and family visit I hadn’t seen in more than a year. So a bit slow on the weight loss but I’m only about 9-10 pounds over a good goal, it’s slight but it’s just annoying since my jeans are a bit tight and I haven’t worn jeans in a long time. Lived in swim trunks for half the year last year, then sweat pants the rest lol.
In my case, it was a matter of suddenly having my husband and HS/College kids home remote working and distance learning. Suddenly I was making heavier breakfasts, lunches and dinners again because we were all pretty much stuck at home. At first, it was kind of fun when we thought that stay at home orders would only last a couple of weeks. Might as well enjoy some good home cooking. It's only for a couple of weeks, right?

I started eating more, exercising less....and the weight came on. Now a year later, I've got some work to do.

I've no problem getting rid of books. I love to read, but I don't re-read books. I take them to the used book stores, there are several near me, and exchange for other books. Some places will buy the books for cash, others will only give credit towards buying other books. Any that the book stores won't take I leave in those free neighborhood libraries.

You just don't give up. This isn't about an ongoing thing or a way of life - it's about life being a little too much some time. You either understand that or you don't. I understand it. That's all - no need to keep going on - but thx for the rep.

I find that the best cure for that is just to do SOMETHING. Good luck!

I did give away an electric edger though but again didn't plug it in. "Untested edger complete with basement dirt and cat hair". That went quick.

Honestly, the past 2 weeks have been difficult for give aways. Everyone is cleaning right now and the Buy Nothing groups are hammered. If someone doesn't see your post right away, it's going to sit. Easier to toss!
I think the "cat hair" was the big attraction

Be kind to yourself. This has been such a tough time for everyone. Food is wonderful and such a comfort and I've been where you are with the weight gain after a significant loss. Don't give up - you'll feel so good when you can say good-bye to those clothes for good

I understand wanting to groom one's cat but using an edger seems a little extreme...
