OP has already made it home safely, since this was in August of last year.

This really depends on where you'll be staying at. If it was Albuquerque, I would sit up all night w/ a shotgun and even that might not work. Before I fled from there, theft was so prevalent that a few thieves hitched up to a trailer in a guy's yard and took off w/ his mother in law asleep inside. Other cities, you might not have any worries at all.
It's a different world today, society has really gone down the tubes. Back in the 60's and 70's we would tow our dragster to a city for a race the next morning and park it on a trailer in a motel parking lot. No one ever bothered it, and no one worried about it either. Those AA Fuel dragsters were worth 10's of thousands of dollars even back then. It's hard to believe how much things have changed.
If it were me I'd pay the person on the night desk to keep an eye on it. That's one that hasn't changed, money still talks.
