1997-1998 Tampa, FL (had to escape the Midwest - a lifelong dream)
1998-1999 Wisconsin (couldn't afford to live in FL at age 20)
1999- stubborn, tried Tampa, FL again

2005-2008 - Los Angeles

Lived in the same house growing up from 2 yrs to 18 yrs, then....
1 year--N. MN
3 mo. in central WI
4 mo. at home
2 years in eastern WI, moving four times within the area
2 years in northern WI
2 years in northern MN
2 years in U.P of MI
7 months in NH
4 months in northern WI
9 months in UP of MI
7 months and going in SE Arizona but...
We may move again in the next couple months. From the second time in Northern MN to now, we have gotten married, had two boys (moved while pregnant both times), and both graduated college. We have got to the point of exhaustion with the whole thing and hope to only move one more time (fat chance). Like others, we are now penciled in family's phone books. Also, my oldest is 5, but I have a standing rule that he does not learn his phone number, and tell the teacher that. I mean, I can barely remember all the different numbers of addresses and phone numbers, how is my 5 year old?

Moving Moving
Wow, I've moved a lot in my life, due to many factors, out of my control with parents, my dad was restless, and he did several stints as a teacher, in So. Cal, then quit and became a farmer in Oregon, a couple of years, then back to So. Cal, and was an insurance sales, then bought own biz in Santa Barbara which didn't work out after a couple of years, etc...finally we settled somewhat in Ventura with a business that lasted quite a while, yet we still moved houses every 2 years and then i started out on my own, and wound up moving all over Ventura county, approx. 8 times in about 8 years, then i finally wound up in a conundrum, i had very little money and the rents were skyrocketing, and i wasn't going to share a house with a small child on my own, so i took a big chance and moved to Northern CA (Far Northern CA), not Bay area, or pretty Coastal, no, the Armpit of CA Red Bluff...Just kidding, it is extremely hot in summer, and not terrible the rest of the year, but still has some high winds/storms at times....and very high unemployment/welfare, it is very hard to find a job, and i have struggled the entire time here, however i did meet husband #2, and have done ok, also have lived here in only 2 places! I have now beat my record of staying in one place for 13 years! Wow, and im getting extremely bored, stressed and tired of it all, living in one place and so-called (becoming part of a community), isn't what it's cracked up to be, I'm just maybe not into "this" particular community, if you can call it that, most people go out of the area to really shop, and there isn't a very business-friendly climate, also California makes it hard for anyone to do anything with all the rules and regs.. as well as there not being much to do in this town unless as usual you have money...so I'd really like to move again! I'd love to be able to afford my old area of Ventura, but that isn't in the cards unless i find a really rich relative who left me money or something. Also, we've stayed in this area due to hubby's family and that i feel he would have a disadvantage elsewhere, as people wouldn't know what to think of him, he has a speech impediment, and most people think he's retarded, but he just has learning disability, and the speech thing is from having his vocal chords paralyzed due to childhood illness... He works really hard and has stayed at his job 16 years! Wow dedicated!

I had at least five homes growing up, then moved to a new state with my parents before attending college in the same state, lived in the dorms for a year, then lived off-campus for three years, then moved to another state where I've been for 6 months. Besides the point where I was in four places in one year (eek)...I imagine I'm pretty average. Lived in three states.

I'm a military brat, never lived in one place for more than 3 years, until I bought my own mobile home, that lasted 5 years, we now live in a two story home and have been there for just over a year. The shortest time I've lived in a place was for one month, we just arrived in Florida and rented a one bedroom apartment(Family of six) until we found a three bedroom mobile home.

The older I get, the harder I find it is to pick up and move. lol The body gets sore and even driving becomes a chore. On the last move I was pinching myself (left marks too) to try and stay awake feeling on the road. Not fun.

Shortest time living in one place. 3 weeks.
Oneonta, NY
We arrived there, after working a season in the Boothbay area in Maine. Found a rental house, and I got a job at a nice restaurant.
The restaurant offered to start me at min wage, and if they liked my work after a week or two, they would offer a full time wage.
Min wage was about 2.45 / hour, then.
I worked 60 hour weeks at the restaurant. after second week, they offered me a salary that was less than the min wage plus OT that I was making.
I said "no thanks" and they fired me.
Spent another week looking, and kept getting "They pay good money. They pay minimum wage."
At the end of the third week, we packed up and headed south.
Longest in one place,
Denver Colorado. 15 years. Left to go back east, and it took us nearly 12 years to get back.
I will die here.
Hopefully long enough from now to break my previous record.
