Just wondering what has affected your decision to move to a different state. It is a big decision. Were you glad you made the move?. I have heard good things about Memphis as a city, but will probably be moving in the future. What is everyone's experience?

My move was based on weather, taxes and prices of houses.

I moved bcs of financial issues last time. This time I may do the opposite- maybe a more expensive area with more culture. Its a hard decision though, with the way the economy is and all.

I have moved for two different reasons, but several times over. One kind of move was for a better job or educational opportunity. The second kind was to be closer to friends, family, and cultural/social activities. My impending move will hopefully combine both as I'm returning to an area with friends, culture, and a new job.

When I was a young adult, I moved all the time for a wide variety of "young person" type reasons.
When we moved to north Florida in the fall of '05, we had been in Denver for many, many years and were ready for a change.
We had been talking about the move for a couple years, and had previously visited here: me once, the husband twice.
I wanted the beach and warmer weather, the husband wanted a new job. We were 50-somethings seeking new surroundings.
It's been a bumpy ride since then but we are staying in north Florida.

First moved because, although a fairly nice and safe "suburb", it's just so negative and gloomy around these parts. Had to get away from it. So hit the towns I'd always wanted to, one by one, over the years.
Got to experience completely different atmospheres and fall in love with favorite towns and their people. Thought of them as paid vacations, actually, as workng in them would also prove to be a pleasure!
Only moved back here for family reasons (had been away for so long anyway.) Depressed again :>( Having gotten so spoiled from the other places, finding it even harder to adjust to the perennial gloom this time.
Yes! The grass can, indeed, be greener:>) Family trumped this one.

We moved for the first time out of state, and it was to leave a horrible job and for a great job. Now, when we do move, it is for financial reasons-to afford a beautiful house that won't leave me bankrupt.

When the entire town knows your brand of deoderant, where you hide your PMS snack stash, the name of your first dog and where you buried him, your ovulation cycle and one of the locals reminds you that you're getting low on cereal.

Either that or you're telling too many secrets.

We moved from our home state to another state for a new adventure and a fabulous, ridiculously huge house. It wasn't quite the "adventure" we hoped for and we miss our home state, so we are moving back home on June 1st. You know that saying about the grass being greener ... well, that's not always the case. Sometimes you just realize you were already happy but didn't know it!
