My wife and I are moving from New Jersey to Ohio and we are wondering what the normal price would be for a full service moving company (we pack, they load, drive, and unload). I looked around the internet and searched the forums but I couldn't really find a good answer.
We got an estimate that says our two bedroom apartment will take up 830 cubic feet and weigh 5,800 lbs. The move would be approx 415 miles. Our quote was a little over $3K so I have no idea if this is high, low, or about right. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
Sounds a little high... but that is probably about what it's going to run. You might comparison shop. I was trying to think and for the life of me I cannot remember how much it cost us to move about half that far. I am thinking it was about $1500 and I think it was approx 5000 lbs. We moved a few years ago, so the price of fuel has gone up since then, and everything has gotten higher.
Ask more than one company for sure....but don't be surprised if it is going to cost somewhere in that range.
Another thing that would be more important than the price.... research the company, some moving companies are crooks! You would be better off paying more to hire a reputable company than dealing with some of the horror stories I have heard. Ther are good honest moving companies out there, you just have to find one.
