I would say go for it after answering the most important question. If this job does not work out, will there be other prospects?
My hubby and I moved about 18 months ago, very happy that we did. Unfortunately for the both of us we want to change jobs. There are not as many prospects where we moved to, so we are both stuck until something comes our way.
Family and friends trumps jobs any day of the week for me. Instead of taking such a drastic measure why not schedule a meeting with your bosses and let them know that you would like a different position or challenge in the company. It sounds as if you are well thought of so they will probably jump at the chance to retain you. Whatever you decide I wish you the best of luck.
Do your research for sure. I've heard both good and bad things about Florida. I had an aunt and uncle that lived there along with 3 kids. They have all moved out of the state, mostly complaining about the laws, etc. It all depends on perspective.
I'm kind of in a similar position as you except I'm married and going to a much more EXPENSIVE state!
If it were me I would probably move. I moved from my home state to the state next door. I was fortunate...my parents let me borrow their camper for about a month so I could find a job, apartment, roommate. My only warning is be prepared to be at least a little homesick!! It eventually passes though!
An older person once told me the only things you regret before you die are the things you didn't do!
This is what my mom told me as I was considering whether or not to take a job in Texas...I've lived in Florida all my life...plus I didn't want to leave them (my brothers live in other states, and my parents have a great social life here). That statement was what pushed me over the edge...we leave here in June!
