GA has several growing metros/areas outside of Atlanta. Augusta, Savannah, Macon, Columbus, Athens, Valdosta, North GA, and Brunswick.

GA is going to surpass Ohio, Illinois, and Penn in the future too.

Yeah ! But Georgia's has a high unemployment rate no ? It's a problem currently for its population growth ! Same thing for North Carolina.

Virginia has a very good pop growth too, and its unemployment rate is low, it's a good thing for this decade, this state will surpass New Jersey.

And Texas, the fastest growing state (in numbers, not in %).Texas gained 479,000 inhabitants in 2009, more than California (383,000) and it's like that since one decade.

Georgia still has a way to go to catch Ohio, let alone Pennsylvania or Illinois. You might also remember that the latter three have something in abundance that Georgia now has to conserve: fresh water. That could be important in the future.

I don't know about that in the near future, but Washington actually added more than Arizona last year-which is probably the first time that's happened in a long time. Due to the economy, many non-sunbelt states saw healthy growth in 2008-2009. Its pretty interesting really.
