I live on a dead end street of 14 houses. The street is full of cars. Most people do not park in their garage or driveway but instead park on the street. It makes it hard to drive up and down the narrrow street and also makes it tacky looking.

I do not remember anyone parking on the street when I was a kid. How about in your hometown, street or driveway?

Default The majority of my neighbors park on the street....

The irony is that most of my neighbors have garages yet, prefer to park on the street.

Hardly anyone in my neighborhood has a garage (for example my building has 3 apartments and one parking spot, the last building I lived in a block away had 12 apartments and zero parking spots), so most everyone parks on the street (and they all spend too much time looking for a spots ... I know because used to be one of them until I got rid of my car). Oh, and for the most part, there are no driveways, that is what alleys are for.

Depends on which is more convenient for my neighborhood. You get a lot of both. I live in a fairly rich neighborhood....

I live in a neighborhood with lots of older homes. There is a lack of driveway space and not many garages. Therefore most of us are parking on the street.
There is plenty of room for street parking which makes it alright. It's just kind of different.

I have noticed this as well, especially on the street my parents live, I havent been in my neighborhood long enough comment.

There are 17 homes on their street. When I was a kid only one house had cars on the street and that was because it was a weird A frame that really had no garage, it did but it was impractical.

Now, several of the new homeowners have their garages full of junk so they all park on the street. Id say of the 17 houses 7 park 2-3 cars on the street. I liked better when they were in the garage.

You'd think we would park all three of our cars in our three car garage, being that it was 109 degrees here today, but that is where we store our JUNK! And holiday decorations,...but do you have to put up with the mobile basketball hoops that stay out all year long? Like weeds that won't die. Anyway, we all park in the driveway. Great Idea for a thread.

People use their garages to store their crap. I would never park my car in the street.

1. People have lots more stuff nowadays so they use their garages for storage.
2. People have more CARS nowadays so they can't fit them all in their garages and/or driveways.
