Hey everyone. Not sure if this is the right place for this question, but here it goes. I'm 18 years old and currently renting in Lynchburg, VA. I was just let go from my job and now have no obligations in this town. I want to start somewhere new, but I need it to be a city with lots to do, or a beautiful town with a decent amount of things to do...as well as a good economy with job opportunities. I guess my question is...what are some cities that are cheap to live in and offer ample opportunities for people my age? I'm from the city originally, so preferably places that aren't real country. Thanks!

In order to give some specific suggestions, it would help to know a few more details.

When you say "lots to do", what type of things do you like to do? That can make a big difference.

Next, what type of work are you interested or skilled in?

Is weather a factor?

Are you looking for something a lot bigger than Lynchburg like a large metro? Do you want to get away from the entire region?

Things to do such as night life, show/concert venues, really just anything fun that'll keep me entertained. For work, I'm experienced in stocking, production/warehouse jobs, and call centers...but I do any work I can as long as it's steady. And yes, bigger than Lynchburg. I live in downtown Lynchburg and that still isn't enough for me. Weather...I'm from Rochester NY so I can do cold...and live in the south now so I can do hot. Weather is not too much of a concern and long as it's not real dry heat.

Also I want to add that a city with lot's of young people would be good. Not like Lynchburg where it's mostly older religious families.

Maybe a college town is what you need. Come back to Upstate NY and give Ithaca a try. I know it's not bigger, but it has quite a bit going on.

Maybe something like Philly, Pittsburgh, Nashville, Louisville or Omaha might work too.
