Either through expansion or relocation of a current team. There has been talk of relocating the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, the Oakland A's and the Toronto Blue Jays.

It's like the 35th largest media market though, because the rest of the world doesn't base a city's size off of its city proper population. So no, it's not the 7th largest U.S. city, it's more like 35th.
I think Charlotte deserves a team. The area is really booming and will just continue to grow. There should be a good fan base to work with there if they cater to the both Carolinas like the Panthers did.

They almost got the Twins in the late 1990's! I remember, at the time, the Charlotte mega-region had like 10 million potential viewers to Mpls' 5 million. I bet those numbes are much different now, and most of the change would benefit Charlotte. I'm not sure if that situation were to come up again today with the same circumstances that the Twins wouldn't be in Charlotte...

Wow. Never knew that about the Twins. I knew they were struggling in the 90s but did not know that they were endanger of losing their team.
I don't think Minnesota has anything to worry about now. There is that amazing new field and quite a good fanbase now for the Twins.
If a team cann't survive in it's current city, what makes anyone think that it could in a new one? They are just a business, if they cann't make it they should go out of business. Any move by any pro team will involve public money in its' new home. Money that is really tight or nearly non-existant.

it is the 7th largest city. A city is a city. a metro is a metro.
And SA can't blame everything on its smaller metro.
There are metros smaller that are far more dynamic.
Indianapolis
Kansas City
San Jose
Las Vegas
Columbus
Charlotte
Providence
Nashville
Milwaukee
Memphis
Louisville
New Orleans etc etc etc are all smaller than SA no matter how you look at it, MSA, city etc and all of these cities are far more dynamic, has far more amenities and all that than San Antonio.
NO matter how you look at it, for a city its size it is whimpy.
no city gracing the top 10 cities list is as whimpy
