[LEFT]El Paso had the highest ratio of Hispanic-owned businesses — 59.8 percent — to all businesses among U.S. cities with a 2007 population of more than 500,000 people. That was followed by San Antonio at 39.4 percent and Los Angeles with 21 percent.
In 2007, the ratio of Hispanic-owned businesses to all businesses in Texas was 20.7 percent — the third-highest in the nation. New Mexico leads the country with 23.6 percent, followed by Florida at 22.4 percent, then California at 16.5 percent, and Arizona with 10.7 percent.

No surprise there considering the amount of Hispanics proportional to the overall population in Texas.
In other words.
I'm not agree about that, look at :
California has more Hispanics than Texas (but the same proportion) and Florida but it is behind these 2 states in Hispanic-owned businesses !
Hispanics represents 21% of the population of Florida but 22% of business are hispanic-owned...In Texas it's 39-20 and California it's 40-16.
It's an interesting debate.Why hispanics in Florida are more enterprising than hispanics of Texas and California ? Maybe because cubans are more educated than Mexicans ?
^well Cubans are more entrepenurial and they do have the largest percentage of college degrees out of all the hispanic groups in the US. You have to realize also that the refugees & exiles that came from Cuba in the 1960s were the business elites at the time. You also have Puerto Ricans second only to Cubans in Florida which doesn't have as big of a population of Mexicans as does Texas & California.

This is exactly why. Cubans are heavily established in Florida (mostly around Miami) and have a lot of influence on that City. Their reasons for coming here are also different, as many Cubans came to escape their government. Mexicans in the U.S. are heavily working class and uneducated.

Yes I guess Cubans are really an asset for Florida, I hope Mexicans + other hispanics will imitate them, that would be really good for the US.
