This is the correct answer. But even then, it tends to be more jokes about the kinds of fans the cities produce, more than the actual teams. Some cities are filled with bandwagoners. Other cities' fans are nothing but ignorant Santa-booers. Etc.

All in good fun.

Wouldn't that suck if there was a front-running fan base that never sold out its stadium except for the Sunday before Christmas when they all get together specifically to boo Santa Claus?

All sports is parochial.

When someone moves to a new city, they tend to continue to follow the team where they came from.

Who cares about the Panthers. Go Pats!

Actually, I do the opposite. I root against the sports teams from cities where I think the people do not deserve a winner.

I sometimes find myself judging a city based on their fans. I can't help but think Philadelphians take pride in being a$$ holes, and Bostonians are just rude and obnoxious.

Don't be offended, its not my fault that is how the majority of those fans are .

I kinda wanted to revisit this thread and get a few more perspectives......

I saw a couple of recent threads regarding cities and their sports teams (i.e. which city is in need of a championship). Based on that do you guys base a city's status on their winning/losing sports teams?

Quite the opposite, it's been my experience that some of the nicer city/states (especially North-Central areas bordering canada that possess the Mississippi River headwaters) have some of the crappiest, least successful franchises.
