The one thing that almost all of those people have in common is European ancestry.

If they choose to identify themselves as 'White', that is their business. If other people regard them as 'White' it is hard to blame them because that is how they generally appear due to their European ancestry.

Do you adhere to the racist "One drop rule" where if someone has African or Indigenous ancestry, no matter how small or remote a contribution, they can not be regarded as 'White'?

Race is a social construct. So, it isn't so much a thing of biology(eventhough that aspect comes into play), but it was created by Europeans during the time of time of the Trans-Atlantic slave trade. Even in the beginning of Colonial America, Black slaves and White indentured servants/slaves worked side by side, had relationships, children and even revolted together. So, the concept of race was created to separate said people. It has stuck ever since and has been used to create what we have today.

Even if you look at the word "race", there isn't a word for that concept in many languages outside of the Americas or Western Europe. Even general group names like "Inuit"(aka Eskimo in Euro tongues) or "Bantu" are translated as mankind or people in those native languages. So, that right there can give an indication of the whole concept.

Brilliant.
No. The purpose of this thread is why do Americans believe Latinos/Hispanics, Arabs/Middle Easterns and Jews seen as races by many Americans despite even according to their own system they are not. Read the thread again.

No the one drop rule is rediculas and it is racist. My point many of those celebs are mixed race but still seen as either White, Black, Latino, ect according to the American public.

Yes. I agree.

It can't though its like comparing apples, oranges, and a fruit salad. you can't group Whites, Blacks, and Americans; why do it with these groups? It confuses people. Many people think Latinos, Arabs, and Jews can't be White or Black, ect in the USA.

Of course Jews and Arabs are Caucasiod. Technically, there are only three races: Caucasiod, Mongoloid, and Negroid.

That doesn't make Jews or Arabs "white". White really describes people of European ancestry. Jews and Arabs are of Semitic origin. Of course Jews have assimilated into European culture. The Romans destroyed Judeau and the great exodus occurred. Many Jews were forced to take up residence in areas such as Poland, Russia, Belarus, Hungary, etc. But they still have their roots in the Middle East.

You're at least sixty years out of date with this. For example the Khoisan/Bushman are not "Negroid." The genetics is pretty clear that if any group is distinct than they are distinct and I believe Carleton Coon even placed them as "Capoid." Australian Aborigines are also not "Negroid" even if they are "black" and I think it's possible some of them even live in the US as we do get some Australian immigration.

In Coon's system, which is itself deemed anachronistic these days, there were five races

Caucasoid - White
Congoid - What we would term black or "Negroid."
Capoid - Khoisan/Bushman.
Mongoloid - "Asiatic", includes American Indians.
Australoid - Aboriginals of Australia.

Many placed the Pygmies or "Negritos", as they were once called, in their own "race" as well.

The question isn't why or whether Americans classify these people this way. The question is rather why members of these groups don't object. Is it because maybe they get handed stuff they otherwise mightn't if they didn't so self-identify? Or get to claim grievances by virtue of so self-identifying?

she isn't black, she's a white Colombian, and that prior list is pretty much mostly wrong to.

Interesting how sub-Saharan Africans get split up according to Coon, but other groups aren't....Hmmm......

Also, the "One Drop Rule" is a misnomer, because if that was the case, then EVERYONE in the World would be Black based on the anthropological findings as to where man originated from. Hence, my reasoning for calling it the "Last known African ancestor" rule.
