Do you ever find your metro area described or named differently depending on the topic?

For example, the table of United States Metropolitan Statistical Areas lists the Phoenix Metropolitan area as Phoenix-Mesa-Glendale. However, publications like Travel + Leisure list the area as Phoenix-Scottsdale and sometimes I see Phoenix-Scottsdale-Tempe.

Do you prefer the way your metro is named or described or do you prefer an alternate way?

Someone actually recently addressed this in another thread and the answer is really interesting. There actually is a reason for it.

It has mostly to do with a legal city-proper being more of a job-attractor vs. how many people that live there.

We're just Chicagoland as far as I can tell.

I've heard "Metro Detroit" and "Southeast Michigan" at different times.

Tampa-St Pete
Tampa-St Pete-Clearwater
Tampa Bay.

I have even heard Tampa-St Pete-Sarasota . Sarasota is almost an hours drive south of the Tampa Bay metro.

One day it well be Tampa-Orlando.
