No offense to the OP, but I really wish people would stop moving to the South simpy because it's "cheap and warm".

Are there any other reasons why you'd like to live in the South?

Tampa/St Petersburg and just about all of the larger cities in FL are quite gay-friendly. A standout is the Ft Lauderdale suburb of Wilton Manors, which has a gay mayor, a majority of gay-owned businesses and the highest % of same-sex male couples living together in the US.

Why not look West? You can find cheaper and warmer there too, as well as greater tolerance.

I wouldn't say anywhere in the south is fine - there was a recent hate-arson in Vonore TN. Of course that could be the couple's bad luck of living next to the only bigot in the community.

If the poster says Rome Ga is OK, I believe him, but it doesn't mean every community its size will be tolerant. Some are, some aren't. That's why we have C-D for suggestions.

The OP seems to have made his mind up about this. Don't know why we can't all respect that.

Yeah the OP should look up Montrose in Houston, or the other up and coming Gayborhoods, such as Meyerland.

Montrose has many gay own and operated businesses, many restaurants, almost 20 gay clubs and bars. It is a really laid back neighborhood.

If you are looking for non-stop club life and circuit parties, Atlanta, Dallas, and Miami/Ft Lauderdale are your only real choices. If you are more well rounded but still want acceptable nightlife, then you have many more options as pretty much any city over 1 million metro is going to have an active gay scene as well as gay friendly areas.

Atlanta
Austin
Dallas
Houston
New Orleans

Are all gay friendly cities.

Miami too if you can consider it Southern.
