^ actually, I'd rather be outdoors when it's cold because summers are just too damn hot here, I've just noticed that in many cities across the US, winter is very dead compared to summer.

I am absolutely miserable in any kind of heat. It's much, much easier to escape the cold than it is the heat. Plus, heating my house costs absolutely nothing in the winter. Summer cooling costs aren't terrible, but are not free.

Furthermore, when it's cold outside, I feel energetic and ready to get work done. In summer, the heat saps my energy and makes me lethargic (it could also have something to do with the fact that I can't sleep....at all...when it's over 80 at night).

I prefer the hot, 120 degree temperatures akin to Phoenix.
Nothing like hopping on the mountain bike to work/store/school and throwing on the minimal amount of attire needed.

Cold weather, it takes too much time to get suited up, like you're getting ready to go on a space-walk or something.

I also work outside a lot, so there you go.

Air conditioning has been a luxury most of my life in homes, schools, and cars not heat. I live in Delaware and work in PA on the Delaware River outside all year in Nomex coveralls and this past summer was brutal as most people in the Northeast can attest. But as I said before I can't stand being cold and I'm a duck hunter. I've had days when its 15 degrees and the winds blowing 20-30 mph and I can't warm up at all until later that night. But I can cool down much faster like I did this year when it was over 100. I think alot of it has to do with body types, I'm thin at 210lbs because I'm 6'3" my boss who is 270-280lbs at 5'10" is always hot, he wears shorts when its 30 degrees. I'm trying to be nice but everyone I work with (300 guys) the ones that are fat, sweat from March to December. The rest of us freeze from November to April. My family loved to travel growing up so we would spend 3 weeks a year in the summer each year in Maine, Vermont, Wisconsin, and Michigan. I went to each place 4 or five times and I loved all of them. I think for scenary they were the best places I could ever visit or live and up untill I hit the age of 25, I dreamed of living in one of those places. Thats when the winter of '96 hit and I had enough of the snow and cold after that. Here's the other thing about cold, anyone that has ever been really cold and I mean chilled to your bones have had those days that you stay cold for about 2 days, hot showers, sitting in front of a fireplace, turning the heat up to 76 nothing works and I hate that feeling. Bring on the heat.

Mild weather is the best.

Try dealing with the humid Houston summers and you will be BEGGING for cold winters.

Truth is... most places are ok most of the time.

It is only a few times out of the season where the extremes hurt.

And basing your decisions on those extremes is dumb.

My wifes friends who moved eight years ago from Delaware to League City came back this summer when school let out and they were hoping to get some relief from Texas, they were wrong we had the hottest summer on record this year. Nasty heat and humidity.

They don't really like the humidity in League City and have said it gets unbearable in the summer, but they really love the area (especially Texas) and neither one of them miss the temperature extremes from the northeast, 90s in the Summer and 20s in the Winter.
