What shopping is in the DTC? That is a part, a major part actually, of a downtown. I would not call the DTC an auxiliary downtown.
True. I would say the Cherry Creek Mall but malls like that are typically suburban. Well, the DTC is almost there. I know it's primarily business. It's got some good food too though.

The Cherry Creek Mall is not in the DTC. It's in Denver.

Really? Oh right. Wow, definitely a fail on my part there! I'd always thought there was a mall in the DTC but now I see why that wouldn't be very likely since Park Meadows is so close by. Whoopsies.

1. Downtown (der )
2. River North/Streeterville/Navy Pier (although it is basically connected to downtown due to proximity
3. Depaul/Wrigleyville area
4. Wicker Park
suburbs:
1.Schaumburg(?) I'm not very familiar with this part, but there was an area full of shopping centers and business blocks. Anyone whos more accustomed to Schaumburg if they could fill me in, that would be cool.

Even in a smaller metro like Syracuse, there's Downtown and some might include the Eastwood Business District in the Eastwood neighborhood, as it was once a separate community that was annexed in 1926.
Then, you have villages with a CBD, but they might not call it a "Downtown" like Liverpool, Baldwinsville, North Syracuse, Solvay, East Syracuse, Fayetteville, Manlius, Minoa, Skaneateles, Marcellus, Cazenovia and so on.
There are other smaller cities like Oswego, Fulton, Oneida and Auburn(if it is counted into the metro) that have designated or CBD's called Downtowns.
Then, you have a metro like the Albany-Schenectady-Troy metro in which all of those cities have a Downtown. You also have Saratoga Springs in the metro with it's own Downtown, along with smaller cities like Cohoes and Rensselaer. Villages like Watervliet, Ballston Spa, Waterford and Scotia, along with some others, have CBD's that may or may not been viewed as a "Downtown". You also have CDP's with CBD's like Delmar and perhaps Latham.

Upon reflection, I can not think of any medium or large sized Metro with just a single Downtown/CBD. That's more of a small town thing.
