Which region do you think is more like to secede from the United States in the long term?
Obviously the SouthEast formed its own country - the Confederate States- for a few years before being forced back in the Union
The Atzlan movement seeks to return all land back to Mexico that the USA took in 1846. Some Atzlan backers seek, rather than be reunited with Mexico, to create a new Latino dominate nation. Both site the future Latino super-majorities and White/ Black flight from California as evidence that their vision is going to happen, the only variable is time.

i think az and all the supporters of az would secede if it happened. however i don't see it happening. i think we'll wake up soon and start enforcing our presence at the border more.
There are some widely known secessionist movements out there by individual states that probably are a tad more realistic, but even those are nothing but pipe dreams for the most part.
I don't think it will happen on it's own. However if a "Jericho" (tv show) type event/terrorist attack major enough to decapitate the entire government happened it may be likely.
The Deep South is way more likely to secede. Think about this. The Hispanics in Arizona came voluntarily to the US to work and make better lives for themselves. The majority of the people who complain about the future of America (included in this is the belief that Hispanics are ruining America) are people in the Deep South.
But it isn't realistic for anyone, nor should it be.

This is beyond ignorant! Hell, it isn't just the Deep South, it is much of the U.S., including Arizona. Many immigrants, come through legally and I welcome them. But what your mentioning involves many ILLEGALS coming over, and that is no good!

Probably the only scenario in which secession would go through somewhat unopposed.
After that though, you're still going to have the many Ohio-class SSBNs lurking around with a captain up to who knows what.
