I need everyones advice & recommendations regarding which states would be best to relocate to with having my first priority as the best state/city for
1. Affordable Cost of Living - Reasonable Rent & Price of Homes
2. Diversity, Music, & Cultural
3. Walkable city - don't require to own a car
4. Excellent Transit Rail System
5. Safe & convenient neighborhood - able to walk to stores, restaurants, parks
6. Low income tax
7. Green City - Eco-Friendly
8. Excellent School Ratings (Middle School/High School)
9. City that offers Tax Incentives when purchasing a certain type of home
**I have narrowed down to 6 States that I am considering**
Boston, MA
Chicago, IL
Minneapolis, MN
Seattle, WA
Philadelphia, PA
Portland, OR
I have not been to any of these states that I have listed above except for Boston, MA and I really like the city although I did not spend enough time there to really get a feel for the city. The people that I encountered were very nice.
Does anyone have any recommendations for the best state and city from my list above???
*You can also include neighboring cities within the state preferably without requiring a vehicle.

have you thought about Detroit, it doesn't have a great transit, but it gets you anywhere downtown. houses are reasonable Downtown, walk anywhere, good school district, Corktown. very safe.

Well, I have never thought of Detroit since I've read about how the crime rate is high and the economy is declining - a rough city to live in but I will still research & possibly visit the area you have noted above "Corktown".

Virginia Has The Chesapeake Bay, Norfolk (one of the the East Coast's largest Naval Port), Assateague National Seashore (where the ponies cross to Chincoteague from), Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge (located on the Atlancic Ocean along woth Assateague), Jamestown (on the James River), Richmond, the former capital of the Confederacy (also on the James River), Virginia Beach (one of the best on the East Coast), the scenic Shenandoah River, Arlington (located on the Potomac River, near Washington, D.C.), and I might think of more later... LOL
and as for Maryland, and Delaware, and West Virginia:
In West Virginia there are coal mines and rednecks. It should not even be counted as a state, since it was once part of Virginia. Virginians go to West VA to gamble because our fine state prohibits gambling (except for lottery tickets, from which the revenue helps to fund schools, for the educated Virginians)... no casinos. The West Virginian Yankees broke away from our state because they wanted to be nursed ny the Union.
Well, Maryland... hmm... reminds me of Liberals, Democrats, and Left-Wingers, no gun control, high Income/Property Tax, and high crime rates (Prince George’s County)
When I think of Washington, D.C., I think of the following: High taxes, crimes, and uneducated people
And Delaware... yeah... nothing there.
Where should I start... Richmond, Virginia was the capitol of the Confederacy and two famous Confederate Generals were from Virginia (Robert E. Lee and Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson). Virginia started the South with Jamestown being the first permanent English settlement in the "New World." Virginia imported the first slaves from Africa in the early 1600's, long before any other Southern state (territory then). Planting of Tobacco started in Virginia and tobacco is the southern "green gold." Forget about cotton. Tobacco is the Southern cash crop and was first planted in VIRGINIA, (the sweeter caribbean Nicotiana Tabacum found by John Rolfe) in 1612, and with that, the institution of slavery began to flourish from then on. And the largest tobacco company in the United is headquartered in Virginia, Philip Morris USA and Virginia is, was, and will always be an integral part of the south. R.J. Reynolds is headquartered in North Carolina (which was part of Virginia). I, being a devout Virginian, covet my state's heritage.

Northern Virginia has Metro, some of the best schools in the nation (Virginia Tech, The University of Virginia, and of course, George Mason University), the area is diverse, parks are everywhere in the state, they have lower taxes than Maryland or DC. Arlington has very low crime rates and the average yearly income is about 100,000$.
