I live in the Eastern Time Zone. At work today, my coworkers and I discussed the following:

1. On Thanksgiving, watching the Macy's Day parade is a big deal here for some folks. It's in NYC and starts at 9am. We were wondering if people in the Pacific Time Zone watched it (it would start at 6am!).

2. On New Year's Eve, watching the ball drop at NYC's Times Square is also a big deal for a lot of us. Do people in the Pacific Time Zone watch? or do you have your own local tradition? It would be dropping at 9pm instead of midnight.

Those things are taped in other parts of the country. Midwest would be an hour difference, West being 3 hours difference. They would show it at their own chosen local time, say 9AM and it would be taped, not live, same goes for some other live tv shows. ...And people in other cities also have their own parades and events as well. But the big NYC ones are shown taped.
