Where in your opinion is the cheapest place to keep horses? ie: cheap land, good grazing, cheap hay, inexpensive feed, vet care, farrier care, etc?

I think Ohio would be pretty good. Ohio in general is affordable especially in rural areas. There also seems to be a lot of hay around. I"m not really sure about inexpensive feed or vet care, but i'm sure it's cheaper here than it is in other areas. My friend's parents have 2 horses they board in a nearby town and i never hear them complain about cost. Good luck on your search!

Oklahoma would be a good choice. Pasture land is fairly cheap, about $1000 to $1500 an acre in rural areas. Usually plenty of hay. So many horses that vets and farriers stay busy and there are many of each. Feed costs benefit from volume selling.

Not Michigan

I have heard excellent feedback about S. Dakota for horse care and upkeep. Land is reasonable, too.

I'm about to find about Ohio... Bringing my horses here in the next 2-4 weeks if I can find someplace to put them.
