Hey Everyone,
My boyfriend and I moved to Colorado from Chicago, and we want to move again, but don't know where. We know we want to live in dry places, so we've narrowed it down to three destinations: Arizona (maybe Phoenix?), Nevada (Las Vegas), and New Mexico (Albuquerque?). There are some places in California that are dry, but where, and places with nightlife and for a 24 year old couple please not Cougar City (Palm Springs, CA)? We've read some pros and cons about all of the places. We haven't been to Phoenix, but other places in Arizona and we like it overall, but we heard Phoenix is ghetto and rundown. As for Las Vegas, the downsides are crime & gangs so we read and the so-called 'sin city' reputation. Albuquerque, we never visited or any parts of New Mexico, and most of the people are in college or older age group.
We're looking for a place to relocate that has:
1. Culture & diversity
2. Better job opportunities
3. Nightlife- things to actually do!
4. Our age group (we're 23 and 24)
5. Make friends and meet new people
6. Reasonable cost of living and if expensive worth it!
Our lease ends in June, and we don't have the time or money to visit each place. Plus, I know that there is no "perfect" city and every city has its good & bad, but what is the best choice of these three, if not any suggestions? Let me know, thanks!
I would opt for Albuquerque. It doesn't have the out of control LA-like sprawl of Phoenix or the economic issues of Las Vegas (15% unemployment rate). It's a unique, historic city with a lot to to offer. Being a college town (University of New Mexico), it also offers a younger vibe.
ABQ I think would fit you guys.... plenty to do at night and when you get tired of city life your right in the mountains you can take off and drive go camping.... ABQ is diverse and it has lots to offer and really awesome places to eat best of luck to ya girl!!! =0)
As a matter of fact, I have been to Scottsdale- and I remember I liked it a lot. I don't remember how far it is away from Phoenix, but I do remember it was near Tempe. I'll check out the housing $ and etc. Thanks for reminding me about that area
