Hi all. I've lived in Massapequa, NY my whole life-and hate it. I happen to be very poor for a person in Massapequa-I have unmarried parents that sickly hate eachother, and everybody I know is always richer then me-I live in a studio apartment in one of the richer neighborhoods and there are re than 1 houses on the block that are 3 floor waterfront mansions. It makes me feel pathetic. It would all be easier if i could live with my dad (he lives with his parents, and they have a split-level house)-but my mom makes sure I stay with her at the studio. The studio is 1300(its near a beach)(utilities included)(no broker) and is full of bugs! Hate it, hate it. My moms very poor and I don't have a bed. I wouldn't want to live with my dad because of my mean, loud-mouthed, grandmother. Recently, I was able to convince my mom to move out of Massapequa the coming summer. I will refuse to start school in pequa-I was suppost to go to a high school in mineola but it just got too expensive. I hope to move out of Long Island-I just really want ot know a good place for me. My conditions are:
-at least 30-40% of the population younger than 18 live in apartments
-no hot, humid, hazy-type summers-I hate that!
-schools are good
-my mom is cuurently a legal secretary-any place with similar job oppurtunities
-apartments are cheap(below 1300 monthly)!)
-good public transport
-clean air
-friendly people willing to make new friends-I'm totally friendless here
-naturally scenic
-SAFE
-i love rain

I dont care where in the country, as long as it fits most of the requirements-its good

thank you

I almost was going to say California until you said that you love rain. Try the Pacific Northwest. Seattle or Portland might be a good bet for you.

Are people really so class conscious that they won't befriend you because of your economic status? Or are you the one that makes it into an issue? I'm not sure moving will help you much, but for what it's worth, I agree that Seattle or Portland meet your criteria.

I've always thought it would be Portland. Btw I have no friends because I dont like sports and have been told to be annoying even though I rarely talk.

Simply getting out of NY to broaden your horizons will be a good start.
