......when you see row houses and mid-sized apartment buildings and grit and grime......and you're still 25 miles away from downtown (I'm thinking Chicago in this example).

That's Miami Beach and it only has 87,000 people. But, it has millions and millions of visitors each year.

you know you're in a big city when:

you can find a drug store with a pharmacy that's open 24/7

you can get food, beside pizza, delivered to your house

there are always somes stores open on Christmas

you dont see high school sports coverage on the local tv news

you can hail a taxi on the street instead of calling one up

theres more than one good place to go hear jazz
