Idaho
Illinois
Indiana
Kentucky
Maryland
Missouri
Ohio
Pennsylvania
Tennessee
Virginia
West Virginia
Taking these into consideration:
-cheaper cost of living
-cheaper land taxes
-beautiful scenery
-friendly atmosphere
-access to fresh fruits/vegetables (as in abundance of roadside farmers stands)
West Virginia is has the lowest COL in all categories, plus it' beautiful and laid back (friendly). MD and VA go head to head as being the 2 states with the highest COL (of the states listed)
WV is "out in the boonies" if you will, for what you're looking for. I'd suggest the Pittsburgh area in PA for you- Or the Cleveland/Columbus areas in OH.
I'm clueless when it comes to the other states. Tennessee may fit the bill.
I am from Tennessee and currently live in Nashville. The cost of living is pretty low as are the land taxes. The scenery is quite beautiful. We do have some great farmers markets and I have from time to time seen some great roadside produce stands in some of the rural areas that local farmers set up. I have also lived in Maryland which the cost of living was higher. I thought some areas were beautiful..Annapolis and the Chesapeake Bay area. Louisville Kentucky is really pretty and a great place to live I hear.
I already lived in Illinois so I wouldn't chose that even thought I love it. I would have chose Idaho because it's so beautiful but I heard it was really racist and home of the KKK so that's a no. So I would chose Indiana. I've heard it was really nice and upcoming.
Those are very nice pics. For the other posters, would you mind mentioning the parts of your chosen state(s) that would fit the criteria the most? Thanks for your responses!
