really Atlanta, that one is funny. Why not try Western Massachusetts,we have distinct seasons with beautiful scenery, mountains and lakes and rivers with the ocean being an hour to two hours away. It is within driving distance to Boston , NYC and all the northern new england states. COL is a little higher than the south east but not to the levels of Boston or NYC.
Dude Atlanta has a lot good stuff going on for it, it sorta has four seasons but really the winter is not quite a real winter that would be experienced further North. Atlanta has 3.5 seasons and one is much longer than the others, that is the really hot part. The warmer temps are attractive to many that dont want a true winter; it kind of cant have it both ways
Omaha, Des Moines, KC, OKC, Madison and Minneapolis representing the western fringe of the midwest (OKC a little off).. All are reasonably sizable-four season cities with stellar economies.
Southern New Hampshire.
I know it actually gets quite hot up there.
Hot meaning mid 80s....which isn't terribly hot, but you WILL get all four seasons.
Unlike Boston, they don't have the ocean to cool them down. Boston is actually slightly cooler in the Summer.
I'm sure there other places too, but there you have one.
Indianapolis definitely has 4 distinct seasons. Along with a VERY low cost of living, and some of the most friendliest people you will EVER meet in life, this is a GREAT place to live.
Good-to-fantastic weather basically 8 months out the year (Mar through Oct).
Fall is nice, pretty and crisp.
Nov-Dec is OK, you will get some snow, and a wonderful holiday season, weather-wise.
Jan-Feb is brutal, but it's still not as bad as our neighbors further north.
Spring is very nice, summers are hot, but not overly brutal. There are many cloudy days throughout the year though, but it's not too bad.
I plan on moving back to the Atlanta area within the next couple years, (but believe me, no knock at all on Indy). I just enjoy living in the South, with it's sub-tropical weather as a whole.
Truly beautiful. Atlanta is gorgeous in both spring and fall, which each last around 3 months. The more extreme temperatures of summer and winter last about 3 months each as well...so for 4 evenly distributed seasons, Atlanta is a good choice.
We actually do have a "real" winter, but it isn't as harsh as winters further north or even just an hour or two north in the Appalachian Mountains. Because of Atlanta's higher elevation, humidity is not as terrible or long-lasting as in other areas of the South.
