I wonder if the residents of Brooklyn were allowed to vote on becoming an independent city again would they choose to do so.
Would Brooklyn have some benefits from becoming an indepedent city? Besides civic pride? I'm not from the region so I don't know if an indepedent city of Brooklyn would have more or less going for it...
bk will always be part of nyc. no type of wishful thinking will change that.
the ppl of bk are proud of their borough, just like any of us from any borough here but none of us want to split from nyc.
if anything we'd rather split from upstate...
to answer the OP, yes, it will. the mayor is already disputing the numbers from the census.
I'd say in the next 10-15 years if trends continue like they do.
You are aware Chicago can turn around the population right?
NYC should be well aware of this as you had a dwindling population
not really that far back.
Considering the energy crisis i think the majority of the nations population centers will increase in the next 10 years.
Chicago is not NYC nor does anyone really care for that matter
NYC is on the East Coast and you should really be comparing your city to
Philly or other areas out East.
NYC is the nations largest city and probably always will be and Chicago is really far behind with population
Chicago and Houston comparable with population size
your comparing apples and oranges.

Its like comparing Chicago to Nashville.
No it isn't, did you not read the OP's post? You clearly didn't think the question here was 'Will Chicago eclipse NYC in population by 2020?' as evidenced by your post, but you certainly missed something. This thread is comparing only Brooklyn with all of Chicago. Based on the figures the OP gave, I'd say it's pretty much apples to apples.
Well, I personally dont buy the Census' numbers for Chicago, but as far as the OP, if trends continue, I suppose Brooklyn could surpass Chicago.
