Lol at least Houston can claim it's own car culture no place in Arizona can claim that. Haters got to hate I guess. Texas has a better car scene period. Only California and the Detroit area comes close.

Straight up ghetto car culture I suppose. I am well aware of car scenes and cultures, as a very tastefully done truck is in my family and has done well in the shows around here in Houston- winning most of the events it has been in. This "slab" type is not what usually does as well when at a typical, generic car show.

Ok, wait a minute...are you suggesting that Texas has the best Classic Car Scene in the U.S.? "Only California and the Detroit area comes close"?

Why is it that people in Texas seem to believe that they have the best of "anything"?....and I mean ANYTHING. Jobs, weather, landscape, beaches, food, etc... I just don't get it.

So, Classic Cars in Texas huh? This almost deserves its own thread with a poll.

I'd say the best places in the U.S. for classic cars would be, as follows:

Monterey, CA
Los Angeles, CA
Detroit, MI
Portland, Oregon
Scottsdale, AZ
a few spots in Florida

Where would you place Texas in this group?

As a person originally from Texas. I was going to come in here and post this. I find it funny that anyone would try to say that Texas is close to Arizona in outdoor activities. Outside of fishing and sailing, Arizona practically beats Texas in outdoor activities and I laugh when I see people try to act like Texas is up there with the state. I'm sure if there was a conversation about which state has better beaches, Florida or Texas, somebody from Texas would try to argue that Texas beaches are just as good which is laughable. I love Texas but it does not have the best of everything.

The slab car scene and classic car scene are two entirely different things.

I try not to offend people in Texas, and I have nothing against Texas, but sometimes it seems that the "Pride" spills over into "Egotism". I've had some great experiences, and met some great Texan's. I give the state of Texas credit for many things, including its history, but it seems that if your not on board with this sense of "boastfulness", then your as good as a screen-door is on a submarine.

For this reason alone, Arizona>Texas. Overall, AZ has more desirable options for outdoor activities.

Yea but that slab culture started with old school classic caddilacs in the 90s. There is a documentary on YouTube about that.

Gotcha..I didn't take it that serious either. My apologies if I came off sideways in my statement.

It just seems like there is always someone from Texas who boasts claims both here on CD and on the streets, that Texas is "better than" or best in soooo many different things, it becomes...well, interesting.
