I have had an I-551 Greencard with no expiration date since 1982. I travel with it to europe and back without any problems at the US-Border. Just
because it has no expiration date.
Anyhow, i have been working in california and florida in the medical
field for about 20 years and working at other jobs also before that.
Question: Since they take money out of my paychecks for social
security and medicare and all that, how soon will i be able to collect
and use those benefits? Do i have to retire at 62, 65 or 70?
And if i do retire at any of those ages and collect my benefits, can
i keep on working?
Thank you, Monica
Moving this so you can get an answer to this question. Medicare I believe you can tap into once you turn 62, you don't have to stop working. Not sure exactly how SS works, if you retire at 62 you get less money than if you wait till you are 65 or 70 I know that. I think you can still have an income, it just has to below a certain amount I believe. Hopefully someone else can chime in and give you more information that I have.
