Highway 1, central coast of California. I’ve done this drive many times in my life and enjoyed it. When I was younger, I often took a few days off in the beautiful springtime (March, April) from work, got in my now retired Toyota 4x4 truck and took this drive from Southern California up to the Bay Area. Quintessential California.

Pacific Coast Highway from Santa Monica just west to Malibu. Breathtaking and scenic.

Snickersville Turnpike in Loudoun County, Virginia. Just beautiful and quaint.

Highway 128 through California Wine Country. So picturesque.

I know there are many others, I just haven’t experienced them yet!
Oh shoot! I totally whiffed on that one. I need to add that to my updated list. If you want the very best this country has to offer, 128 between just north of Napa to Calistoga, that 25 mile stretch, just might be it, not just for scenery but also for overall quality of life.

Mike0421 - this is a wonderful thread!

Highway 128 through Napa & Sonoma counties (as Mike 0421 indicated) offers some of the most beautiful rural scenery in the state. Numerous wineries, restaurants, vineyards are in this area, called “The Napa Valley.” Great place to spend a few days, or on a honeymoon. You’ll drive through towns such as Rutherford and Calistoga, among others.

If you want to see the skyline from higher up then take JFK Boulevard East which runs parallel to River Rd but sits on top of the Palisades.
JFK blvd where it curves at Hamilton is probably the best full shot skyline I have ever seen of nyc. Most times NYC skyline is too big to fully grasp it but this view does it. Wow!

I lived there until 35 almost my entire life, and had to work in Weehawken, and drove by it like it was wallpaper after a while. Very impressive to see once again as someone who hasn't been there in almost 20 years.
