Given that the Constitution spells out enumerated powers, I do not see anywhere in it that states the gov can restrict travel.
An American can (could with thee USSR) travel to Iran, North Korea, Saudi Arabia, Iraq (Sadaam's and present), Afghanistan (Taliban controlled and present), but not Cuba, freaking ridiculous. It is even more ridiculous that the gov feels they have the right and power to restrict citizens from traveling there.
Not sure what there is to be happy about. I guess this would only benefit Americans who want to go to Cuba. The average Cuban citizen will never see the inside of those hotels in their life, let alone enjoy an increased quality of life because of it. So, who exactly is benefiting from this?

Many countries have citizens who will never see the inside the hotels tourist travel to.
Cuba's citizens will have an increase in the quality of life because tourist bring money, and Cubans will devise a way to get the tourist to spend that money. Even the most restricted countries in the world have a thriving black market.
And again, our concern should not be who is benefiting from this, it is a matter of the US gov restricting someone from traveling for no reason other than they can.
You're making it sound like being able to travel is some sort of right. Bear in mind that the government doesn't have to let you go anywhere. At least we can even go to China... To be honest, I'm not exactly a big fan of the ideo of a whole bunch of Americans running around Cuba. It's not like Mexico where it creates jobs and helps people make a living, tourism in Cuba helps no one but the tourist. If you're letting us come over, show us the real Cuba.

Seems you have a poor understanding of our Constitution. I would explain, but I suggest actually enrolling in some classes to get a better understanding, or at least purchase a book.

I am even less of a fan of selling weapons to Saudi Arabia, giving billions a year to Israel, Jordan, Pakistan, and Egypt, and increasing military spending to counter China while our companies give China money to build up their military.
But point is it does not matter what you are a big fan of, no one has the right to restrict someone's travel. Saudi Arabia is one of the most oppressive countries in the world, yet there is zero concerns about restricting travels there. Taliban controlled Afghanistan was also oppressive, yet an American could freely travel there.
Yes, only bad will come out of having people with money, and ideas, running around a country.
How about the visiting Americans adopt a tradition of booking a one or two night stay at a hotel until they can find a resident to put them up at their home as a houseguest. In return, the American can pay the homeowner what he would have given to a hotel and get homecooked meals with the family and the money goes to the people who need it. Then we can redeem the image people have of us as ugly Americans.

No ugly Americans in Cuba, the only ugly people in Cuba are Latin American and African "guests".

Hotels are packed with Cubans from the island. A ton of recently arrived Cubans from Hialeah everywhere. A lot of American "commies" and American liberal creepos with the Che T-Shirt putting down the United States, many invited by the government. They are all around supporting the "Cuban Five". A bunch of Chinese in military uniforms....A lot of Latin American students studying in Cuba with everything paid, most are Indians. Just as in the extinct USSR, they are hated and called "leaches". Cheap Canadian tourists.
Who benefits? The Government. Everything is state-owned except some ridiculous "casas particulares" and paladares that will become extinct in no time (not the first time it happens). Not a place for American tourists, not even for the adventurous kind...
Resorts are expensive and substandard compared to nearby capitalistic countries. A destination for Canadians and budget European travelers, but not for Americans. Those Canadians you find there are Third World and European tourists are "turistas de alpargata" (tourists with rope-soled sandals, just like the ones brought by Spanish immigrants 60 years ago).
The government has no authority to restrict people from visiting another land. That's the bottom line.
