-Not Texas
-Not NYC
-No places that go below 30 degrees, prefer 55-65 degree weather, nothing sweaty
-Looking for some place that isn't too claustrophobic (hence no NYC, which is where I'm at now)
-Beach would be nice but not necessary
-Maybe some place where I can go on a nice stress reducing drive in my car without having to go to far from the city
-And to add to the stress thing, a place that's just breezy, laid back, open, and will be good for someone who is easily anxious/stressed
-Would like to spend around $700-$1,000 for a one bedroom apartment or efficiency that isn't in the ghetto, doesn't have to be an amazing area, just not too ghetto
-Prefer medium size cities like Austin, but like I said I don't want to live in Texas
Sounds like Northern California/Oregon/Washington State to me. Check out Beaverton, OR outside of Portland, Everett, WA which is a half hour north of Seattle or maybe Santa Rosa, Ca which is on the north end of the San Francisco metro area.
Thanks guys. I'm strongly considering Portland now and I'll look into Beaverton as well. It seems like it fits my criteria the most. Plus I'm a mild hipster so I guess that would make it a more fitting city for me. Is the job market in Portland really that bad? I have a Bachelor's in Film but that doesn't seem to help me anywhere regardless (and I don't want to move to LA).
Also, do you think I'd enjoy Miami based on my criteria?
I believe that Oregon's Democratic governor, John Kitzhaber, is trying to push through tax breaks that should benefit the film industry. Movie folk tend to be progressive Democrats and are thus useful for political purposes. Not that I'm being cynical, mind you!
I lived in Oregon during Kitzhaber's first term (mid-nineties). Back then, there used to be quite a few movies filmed in the Portland area.
