Been thinking about towns/cities we've lived in and how some were similar in size -You'd still mainly see a large proportion college age kids or a lot of over 65 year olds. Very few young or older families. Even on weekends...at supermarkets and malls, away from campus.

The smallest place we lived(20,000?) had all different ages, you'd see families, middle aged, college kids, retired and over 70 year olds.
It hit me, it was the first time I'd seen so many 30-60 yr olds in a long time.

I was thinking there must be even college towns where the college is not the main attraction, there are other companies, etc to keep and attract a lot of other folks too. I guess it would have to have a wide range of housing, reasonable COl to suit a wider range of incomes for people at different stages of their lives.

A lot of post are looking for young family, retirement, young professional places. What about small cities that have age diversity?

Know of any?

In NY, Utica, Albany, Niagara Falls, Schenectady; along Binghamton and Troy, eventhough the last two are just under 50,000.

Pueblo is about 110,000 people so its on the high side of the cities you are looking at but it is diverse with a growing university, community college and a large retired community.

Thanks for the ideas. I think its a bit harder to find in smaller cities, maybe I need to rethink the size. I'm noticing more because of our families differing needs, what's great for me, can be too quiet for a young adult. Somewhat family friendly, things to do for the post college age and mid-aged. Aside from that I think it makes a place more interesting when it comes to community events.
