For us, it's no more than 30-35 minutes, depending on traffic, which is really not a issue here. It's about 20 miles. DH really gets cranky with even that much. In our last home, in Houston, it was 15 minutes in the morning, 10 minutes home.

I can't conveniently cycle to work, then it's too long.

A "long commute" to me is too far to walk.

IMO, commuting is a huge waste of time. 45 minutes door-to-door is the longest commute I can tolerate. I've done the 90 minute commute thing and never hated my life more.

I would say no more than 50 miles. Depending on the route I would not like to spend more than an hour and a half on the road.

I'm less tired now that I have a 45' commute than when I was living 15' from work. In fact psychologically I need to have a "decompression lock" between home and work, a 30'-50' commute is ideal for that.

Over 20 minutes in my area. Maybe up to 30 minutes.

Actually this would be ideal for me, too. But I don't mind being within convenient cycling distance. 20-30 minutes on a bicycle isn't too bad to me, in fact that's about how long my current commute is by bike. But I would hate a commute of 20-30 minutes by car. I actually used to have a commute of 30-40 minutes by car, and it was the main reason I took my current job when it became available.

I have the longest commute of my life right now. I drive 45 min from the Ft. Knox, KY area to Louisville. I'm in the process of trying to move closer. I could not take anything over 75 minutes.

An hour. And I would have to make pretty good money for that.
