Hey peeps

Really hope you can help!! I live in Wales, UK but I really badly want to live in the USA. I have hated living in the UK for so long now that I'm going to do something about it!! Yes I am only 19, but I am older in the inside I know to get into any part of the USA, you have to have degrees and everything, well I havent been to University so I havent got a degree, BUT Im doing a NVQ in Travel & Tourism at the moment, and I also have a National Award in Travel & Tourism and a National Certificate in Business Studies (and I have GCSE's, grade c or above in 6 subjects). Im also looking at doing a online course in Events Management. I have tried to read some info on the internet about moving to the US but everywhere says different things and its all so confusing that I just push it to the back of my mind and forget about it then and think "whats the point". But this is a dream of mine and I really want to go there so Im really hoping that you could help me out. I either want to become a cop or a events planner. I know, big difference there init!! What part of the US would be good for these?? Also what documentation would I need to be able to live and work out there?? Would my qualifications be enough or would they take 1 look at it and think "ha no way hose!!"??

I will be truly grateful if you could help me

THANK YOU XXX

You can easily come to the US as a visitor but in order to work you are going to need a work visa. That is going to be difficult, especially with the slower economy. In order to get a work visa, you typically need to be sponsored by an employer. It is expensive for the employer so you need to have specific skills that cannot be readily filled within the US. This is probably where you got the information that you need a college degree.

One option you could look at is coming over to the US to attend University. This is a student visa. You still can't work until you graduate but if you get the education and the skills you are better upon graduation of getting an employer to sponsor you.

For an interim solution you might want to look at various resorts/seasonal businesses that have foreign student programs. They offer work in the US for during the season and then you have a period time afterward to travel the US before you return to the UK - I forget what type of visa this is.

Your best option will be to get a job where you are now but with a company that has US operations and work your way up to where they would consider transfering you to the US and sponsoring that visa.

Cross posting isn't allowed and you're putting this in varied rooms. You only need ONE posting since you have not singled out a specific area yet. Putting in the correct room.
