I am a 32 year old, single professional female. I currently live in the Milwaukee area and am looking for a change of scenery, but trying to narrow down where I'd like to live and I'd like your opinions!

1. I want to be on or a short drive (30 minutes) from a major body of water. Major lake, ocean, or major river.
2. I like the amenities of a major city. I don't need to live downtown, but I like access to sporting events (if there is a major college in town, that's an added bonus), music and art options. If a Target isn't within a 15 minute drive, something is wrong.
3. I can be fairly versatile in a job (I have a marketing degree), so I don't have to have a specific industry in town.
4. As with most people, I'm sure, I'd like the cost of housing to be affordable. Under $1000 to rent or $150-$175K to buy something modest.]
5. After 32 years, the Wisconsin winters have taken a toll on me. I'm not against the cold/winter, but I'd like somewhere where it only snows a handful of times a year versus for 6 or more months.

Suggestions??

Coastal Orange County (the beach villages here are awesome) San Diego. Yes it is affordable and in your price range.

Any specific cities or neighborhoods you'd recommend in those areas?

Seattle you get Puget Sound on one side and Lake Washington on the other. And mountain ranges on each side of the city to boot. It's just beautiful.
