Its interesting how you can find weird shaped objects that stand out in the cities you visit that you have to picture them. Below are a couple I came up with:
Boston: Citgo Sign
Chicago: Millennium Park Nugget
St Louis: Arch
Seattle: Space Needle
Philadelphia: Love Park
Washington DC: the monument
Minneapolis: Spoonbridge and Cherry
Dallas: Reunion Tower
Feel free to bring up more cities or if there are weirder than what I mention for my cities...

The LAX sign in Los Angeles comes to mind. And, you know, the Statue of Liberty...
As for my city, the most recognizable thing in Des Moines is either Nomade or the Travelers sign.

The Grain Belt sign is another one in Minneapolis. I think it is a protected landmark now.

OK for Philly I think the Rocky statue is wierder than Love Park. I mean seriously, it's in front of the Museum of Art.
