From your experience, name one or more cities and suburban areas in the United States that are affordable (for the average person), while having decent to good job opportunities.
Definitely the Plains states (and some of the Midwest) in general as most of the cities are fairly affordable and have lower unemployment rates. Examples with Unemployment Rates:
Madison, Wisconsin (6.0%)
Lincoln, Nebraska (4.1%)
Omaha, Nebraska (4.9%)
Oklahoma City, OK (5.7%)
Des Moines, IA (6.1%)
Fargo, ND (4.2%)
Minneapolis/St Paul, MN (6.9%)
I will say that in the bigger Upstate metros, the unemployment rates are in the 7-8% range and you can get a nice home for under 150k in very nice suburbs/towns.
We don't have anymore jobs, please don't look here.
Yeah, seriously....I am afraid for the new unemployment numbers that will be coming out for this month.... But to take a stab at it, I keep reading that several areas of Texas are doing well.
Thanks for that link - the only downside is it is not seasonally adjusted, which would be huge for cities like Miami . Still, very interesting. Bismark lowest in the U.S. Whooda thought.
