San Juan Island in Washington is quite pretty.
Channel Islands National Park is pretty neat as well.

How could you leave out the Florida Keys, the Everglades, Biscayne and Dry Tortugas...?

Read the OP, most of these are connected by bridge. There is a huge difference in feeling and atmosphere to islands that are only accessable by boat or plane.

And, no they aren't... there are tons (thousands) of keys and islands in Florida you can't get to by a bridge.

Everglades...

There are actually islands all around Florida not just South Florida you can't get to by a bridge.
Dog Island is a nice one some people go to in the Panhandle
