I think those who did the poll must have a thing against seals on flags. Everyone was a flag with a seal.
The abstract ones have always been the coolest. I've never gotten too excited about the ones that have the state seal on a blue background, which is almost half of them easily. Of course, I'm partial to my own Maryland state flag. But to be unbiased, my favorite not counting my home state flag would be California's. I did live there too, but I'd like the flag even if I had never been there.
BTW: Georgia's flag hasn't had the Confederate flag in it for a few years, but it still has the 13 stars in it. Here's the new one:
I can honestly say that I enjoy the Ohio burgee by far over the others, and it's not because I live here. The swallowtail design is just really cool. Maryland and D.C. are runners up.

Georgia's flag IS the Confederate flag.
But at the same time, it no longer has the more offensive battle emblem. Overall, it's a good compromise.
