Hi, I'm moving from Richmond, VA this spring- hopefully March. I've already lived in FL- weather was nice, but NO WORK outside of tourism. Virginia just doesn't feel like home since I lived in FL. I'm an architectural photographer shooting bulidings/construction projects and am very picky about weather. Weather needs to be warm most of the time- I hate cold weather and especially snow/ice. Preferably near one or more big cities. Also no to California or Washington state. Any input is appreciated!

Thanks.

You've definitely limited yourself with criteria which is probably why you had no responses until now. You may have to ditch your climate issues and focus on a big city where there is work to be had. It's not ideal but in this economy one has to focus on the bigger picture, sorry...had to say it! Check out either DC or Boston as both have the lowest big city unemployment rates (7.0%). Good luck!

I would have said Los Angeles, but since you ruled out Cali...who knows.

Houston, Austin, San Antonio, New Orleans? Most of these have either big construction projects and/or interesting older architecture and their economies have fared decently well. They're all fairly hot (since you liked Florida, I assume you'll do fine in hot and humid weather) and almost never get snow.

Thanks for all the input. I have decided to move in a different direction and join the U.S. Navy.
